Check out the new paint in the kitchen
LOOK. The inside is coming together. Need to shop for cabinet doors.

Guest bedroom.

Ryan's room. He has decided to paint the top half green.

And also, the wood paneling is no longer brown.

Can't wait to tackle the fireplace.

Oh my goodness. Justin pulled off the carpet on the stairs. YES!!! More hardwood.

Oh yeah, They put in MORE recessed lights in the master bed room and the living room. The living room had no lights at all.

WOW, this might be a kitchen

We are moving along. Tearing down a wall leaves holes in the ceiling. We used a chalk box to draw a straight line. Justin then used his nifty Fien Multipurpose tool to cut the line straight. I do not know what tool you would use if you did not have one of these. If you are planning on rehabbing your old house or improving your new one, you have to get one of these puppies (it is a beast!).
Look, the top is on the island! Still plenty of room to open the kitchen and the door.

This is the front of the island in the kitchen. Because of the limited counter space the microwave will have it's own built in shelf in here. We got the idea from Justin's parents house. They have the coolest island I have ever seen and they have a built in microwave too. It is wonderful.
here are those 3 awesome guys hard at it! (LEFT TO RIGHT: Orlando, Justin, and Steve)

A tear in my eye

I had tears in my eyes twice this weekend when it came to the house, both tears of...

Frustration.
After 20 paint samples (thankfully I work for a paint company) I think we found the colors.

Next week we will be painting.

The kitchen is coming along nicely. There are still a lot to be done. The island will be finished soon and we can begin to paint.

I need to clean the inside of the cabinets and put down the shelving paper (and rip out the old stuff)

Because we tore out the wall and moved the island inward, we have a flooring problem. So we will but down cheap laminate until we can afford to tile it. I actually do not think it will cost much more to tile it verses laminating it because we can do it our self (I think :-D).

I am practicing a technique I recently learned to paint laminate and it looks AMAZING!! We cannot afford $1300 to replace the counter tops. So until sometime far down the road I am going to paint them. I know it sounds bad, but that pink counters are an eye sore. So what ever I do is an upgrade.
